Reproductive justice, as defined by SisterSong Women of Color Reproductive Justice Collective, is “the human right to maintain personal bodily autonomy, have children, not have children, and parent the children we have in safe and sustainable communities. It is a portmanteau of reproductive rights and social justice that considers the many oppressions people may face as they navigate life.

As a reproductive justice-centric doula service, Beyond The Horizon Doula Care prides itself on providing compassionate, trauma-informed, inclusive, affordable care.

We believe that every birthing person deserves access to a doula regardless of how they look, how they worship, where they are from, who they love, how they express themselves, or how much financial capital they have. Oftentimes, many of these things are barriers to quality care essential in every stage and decision during pregnancy. Beyond The Horizon seeks to combat these barriers while empowering each family we support. As such, we are LGBTQ+ affirming, size inclusive and body positive, and particularly center Black and Indigenous communities that face specific systematic issues regarding reproductive health.

We believe that doulas must maintain cultural humility, transparency, and respect when in partnership with their clients.

We believe doula work is continuing education and dedicate ourselves to staying up-to-date on the most current practices and techniques in the field to ensure professionalism in all our endeavors and high-quality support for those we serve.

Our Mission

Beyond the Horizon Doula Care is dedicated to:

  • Providing affordable and accessible doula services for ALL pregnant individuals

  • Centering empathy, inclusivity, cultural humility, transparency, and respect

  • Fostering healthy, whole, safe families and communities

Achieving reproductive and birth justice for all.
